Local buyers snap up state-owned cotton stocks in India
Cotton industry information resource Cotlook has said that the Cotton Corporation of India held a successful round of auctions in August.
It said around 13 million bales of cotton were in state ownership in India at the start of the month. By August 24, buyers had bought 6 million bales at auction.
Cotlook said most of the buyers were local and that they had been attracted by discounts and by the good quality of the stock the Cotton Corporation of India held.
