H&M-owned second-hand clothing chain expands

Swedish second-hand clothing retailer Sellpy, in which H&M has a controlling stake, has announced its intention to set up in 20 new European markets.
This expansion means Sellpy will be active in 24 European countries in all.
Founded in 2014, Sellpy has already sold more than 9 million items of clothing on its online platform. It handles all aspects of its operation itself: picking up products from sellers’ homes, photographing items, putting them up for sale again on its website and shipping them to new buyers.
Denim jeans, jackets, dresses and shirts are all popular on the platform.
“Every garment bought pre-owned saves resources for our planet,” said Sellpy’s country manager for Sweden, Gustav Wessman, on announcing the expansion.
