Evrnu offers lyocell from 100% post-consumer waste

Textile innovations company Evrnu has launched its first commercially available lyocell material made from chemically recycling post-consumer cotton textile waste, and which it claims can be recycled up to 10 times.

The company was founded in 2014 by Stacy Flynn and Christo Stanev, and has been working with Levi’s from near the beginning.

The first product made of 100% NuCycl r-lyocell is a t-shirt from US-based designer Carlos Campos.

CEO Ms Flynn said: “Our team and partners are dedicated and aligned to outperforming and scaling textile recycling solutions to bring our industry into balance with natural systems.”

The company, which was founded in 2014, has raised $31 million in funding and is building a facility in the southeast US to demonstrate its fibre regeneration technologies at commercial scale. This facility will service 17,000 metric tons of pulp and 2,000 tons of fibre per year. Evrnu says it has tuned its technologies to fit into existing manufacturing infrastructure.
