Vietnamese mills are upbeat about 2023
Cotton market information resource Cotlook has said interest from buyers for raw cotton and cotton yarn was subdued in most markets in November.
In its most recent monthly report, it said mills in Vietnam seemed keen to keep operations running during November, even if this was at reduced capacity. It said mills there are keen to hang onto workers in anticipation of an increase in orders in 2023.
The November report said spinners in Pakistan were less active in the import market than previously, but it said there was consensus in the trade that buyers from Pakistan will return to the market in the near future because the local cotton crop has been badly affected by the 2022 floods. Cotlook said there are estimates of Pakistan’s domestic crop being 40% down year on year.
