First circular product collection from Primark

Clothing retail group Primark has launched a first product range that it describes as being “designed and made to be reloved or recycled”. Its new circular product collection, which includes several styles of denim jeans, became available in mid-April.

The Dublin-based group has worked with non-profit organisation the Ellen MacArthur Foundation to develop its own circular product standard. It has made this new collection in keeping with that standard.

There are three key principles that it highlights as underpinning the standard. It commits to using more sustainable materials, to making products more durable and to making them recyclable.

Thirty-five pieces make up the collection, including “affordable wardrobe staples” for children, women and men.

Primark’s circular product lead, Nicholas Lambert, said: “This collection brings together years of work to create a new framework, with the ambition of enabling our product teams and suppliers to create more circular products that are designed with the end in mind.”

He said it was this that had led to the creation of this first circular collection of clothes that customers can wear, rewear, repair and recycle.
