Forecasts fall for India’s cotton crop
Cotton industry information resource Cotlook has included disappointing news about crop forecasts in India.
In its review of global cotton production for the month of April, Cotlook said current forecasts for India’s next cotton crop will be 30.5 million bales.
At the time of sowing, it said optimism abounded in India. There was a planted area of more than 12 million hectares. In the face of an apparently benign pattern of Monsoon rainfall, early forecasts were for an output of above 35 million bales.
