Fire has destroyed one of the largest used clothing markets in the world, Kantamanto Market in Accra, Ghana.

The fire occurred on January 2, causing one fatality and leaving 14 other people with serious injuries.

A statement from the government of Ghana said 7,000 shops had been destroyed and the business of a total of 30,000 traders affected, not least through the loss of a large volume of unsold garments.
