Bangladesh Denim Expo on now
The denim show held in Dhaka is on today with 57 companies from 13 countries exhibiting. The uncertain global context is top of mind for exhibitors and visitors alike at the two-day event. Though, in the first quarter of 2025, Bangladesh exports to the United States were up 26.64%, surpassing other major suppliers to the US such as Pakistan and Vietnam (whose exports were also up).

The conference programme has focused on tariff issues not only to help navigate the current context, but also because Bangladesh is to graduate from least developed country (LDC) status to that of developing nation in 2026. This will likely spell the end of its ability to export duty-free to the United States.

At a time when the US market is so volatile, Mostafiz Uddin, founder and CEO of Bangladesh Denim Expo, pointed out that the country’s “card should be the industry’s steady progress towards skill development, sustainability and innovation. As we need our trade partners as much as their consumers need us’’.

In this edition the focus has shifted from planning to taking action to prepare Bangladesh’s denim industry for 2029 and beyond, he added.
