Inside Denim Issue 16 out now!

The latest issue of Inside Denim is available now, through the Magazine page, and is packed with updates on fibres, dyes and recycling processes.

Our guest commenter is respected consultant Miles Johnson, who says the industry must be more open about best practice and share innovation, to help move forward collectively.

Hemp in denim has appeared to be on the backburner for the past few years, but innovative companies have been working away to secure supply chains and make the fibre more readily available: the time has come for a new push, they say. Similarly, with wool – R&D driven by Woolmark has made progress with blending and dyeing, meaning its thermoregulating features, as well as heritage looks and novel constructions, might be weaving their way into more jeans, jackets and shirts over coming seasons.

We look at progress being made with biotech blues: new molecules and recipes offer possibilities for novel processes and cleaner wastewater, suggest the companies in this field; and we dig into progress being made in terms of the extraction or recycling of elastane.

Gap’s global head of design, Jane Pattinson, discusses balancing nostalgia and newness, Tilmann Wrobel talks of a trip to Tokyo, while Hugo Boss designer Nikita Raman is the latest to share the inner workings of a denim-filled day.

We hope you enjoy it!
