Cone Denim parent group gets on board with transport initiative
Elevate Textiles, the parent group of Cone Denim, has joined Smartway, an initiative that aims to reduce carbon emissions in the freight transportation sector.
Smartway is a collaboration between industry and the US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). Elevate said it had joined as part of its efforts to further sustainability throughout its supply chain operations.
The partnership includes more than 3,000 members, representing manufacturers, freight shippers and freight logistics companies, that share a commitment to improving the environmental efficiency of moving goods across the US.
Chief sustainability officer, Jimmy Summers, said Smartway aligned with Elevate’s goal of achieving an annual reduction of 2.5% in greenhouse gas emissions between now and 2025.
