Alessio Berto has worked with many of the world’s top designers and brands, and has set up a consultancy, The Tailor Pattern Support, to offer his expertise in this area.
“More than successful, a patternmaker must be competent,” he says. “He needs a lot of humility, a lot of mental elasticity, to speak at least two languages and know how to deal with everyone, from designers to laundry technicians to manufacturers.”
He is also setting up a collaboration between industry, students and artists, creating a capsule collection with more than 17 organisations.
