Stony Creek offers pigment testing service

Stony Creek Colors, a US-based provider of natural indigo, is offering a new service, analysing pigment purity and moisture content of indigo dye.
It said some indigo products advertised as natural actually contain very little plant-based indigo and are instead substituted with synthetic colorants.
“Not only does this have a negative environmental impact, but consumers and brands are potentially paying a higher price for what they think is natural dye,” it said.
“We believe in knowing what is in our dye and are happy to offer this service to provide confidence in your products.”
Stony Creek has joined Fashion for Good’s D(R)YE Factory of the Future, which aims to reduce emissions from textile processing by up to 89%, and to cut water consumption by as much as 95%.
In December, Levi’s announced it is piloting Stony Creek’s IndiGold, a plant-based pre-reduced indigo, at scale.
