PVH, the US-based owner of brands including Tommy Hilfiger and Calvin Klein, has appointed Sara Bland to the role of executive vice-president and chief strategy officer, effective October 31.

An ex-Kontoor Brands senior leader and Harvard Business School alumna, Ms Bland will report to PVH chief executive, Stefan Larsson, as a member of the executive leadership team. She most recently served as executive vice-president of global strategy at Kontoor, which counts denim brands Lee and Wrangler among its portfolio.

Previously, Ms Bland worked for companies such as GSK (formerly GlaxoSmithKline), PepsiCo, Booz Allen Hamilton and Procter & Gamble, variously based in North Carolina, Singapore, New York and Toronto.

“I’m thrilled to be joining PVH at this incredibly exciting time, as the company moves ahead with speed to activate its PVH+ Plan,” she commented. “PVH has a truly unique opportunity to grow two of the most iconic brands in the world across global markets and I look forward to working with the talented team there to help drive the connection between brand, strategy, transformation and growth.”

Mr Larsson similarly emphasised how the appointee will “play a critical role” in delivering on the firm’s PVH+ Plan, a multi-year strategy designed to drive sustainable, profitable growth through 2025 by capitalising on the potential of core brands Tommy Hilfiger and Calvin Klein across channels and geographies.

Key areas of focus include product, digital-first consumer engagement, digital and DTC (direct-to-consumer)-led distribution, developing a demand and data-driven operating model, plus becoming more cost-competitive.
