Denim manufacturers in Bangladesh achieved export revenues of $739 million from shipments to the US in the first nine months of this year.

This data comes from a specialist office for textiles and apparel (Otexa) that the Bangladeshi government runs; it said the figure represents growth of 42% year on year.

In response, however, the Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BGMEA) warned that ongoing growth is likely to be affected by inflation and falling consumer demand. BGMEA director Mohiuddin Rubel said figures for the month of October already indicated a decline in export revenues.
