Armalith jeans specialist launches funding exercise

A French denim brand, BOLID’STER, has launched a crowdfunding exercise, seeking to raise €180,000.

Founder of the Bordeaux-based brand, Pierre-Henry Servajean, said he had decided to try to raise the capital to fund growth for the company.

He said that in the global denim market, whose value he put at $60 billion per year, he was confident BOLID’STER could generate revenues of $800,000 per year by 2024.

BOLID’STER specialises in making jeans from Armalith denim fabric from Spanish mill Tejidos Royo. Armalith was originally made from an ultra-high modulus polyethylene in a corespun yarn, in which the synthetic core is covererd by cotton. Now, the mill has developed lighter-weight Armalith and in a wider array of fibres. The fabrics still have a high resistance to abrasion and tearing.

To demonstrate this point, Mr Servajean organised an event in September to prove that the denim fabric he uses can surpass official EU motorcycle clothing standards for abrasion resistance.

He has claimed that 70% of motorcycle and scooter riders in Europe wear ordinary jeans while riding. He has also claimed that in 70% of accidents involving motorcycles and scooters, riders suffer abrasions to the legs.
