Silver lining for new Mack Weldon jeans
Fashion brand Mack Weldon has partnered with bacterial management solutions provider Noble Biomaterials to launch jeans made with silver-based anti-microbial technology woven into the fabric.
Noble’s Ionic+ solutions use nanotechnology to bind antimicrobial silver ions into material to combat the microbes that cause odour. Mack Weldon had already used the technology in T-shirts and underwear and believed it would work in jeans too, resulting in its launch of the new product Silver Denim.
The jeans have a slim-straight leg, angled belt-loops at the back for, the brand has said, “a more flattering fit”, bonded back pockets and a reflective seam tape, as well as the silver-based anti-odour technology.
The longer jeans stay odour-free, Mack Weldon said, the less their owners will wash them, and the less washing they undergo, the better the jeans will look.
