Hong Kong sets the stage for three-week denim festival
Preparations are underway across Sham Shui Po fabric district, Central Market and The Mills Fabrica in Tsuen Wan ahead of next month’s Hong Kong Denim Festival (November 3-25).
Involving exhibitions, workshops, seminars, performances and more, the idea is to “immerse participants in the culture and experience of denim”, organiser Hong Kong Design Institute said.
Outside of the main line-up, which includes a pop-up alongside international denim show Kingpins, the festival schedule is enhanced through participation from local denim mills, such as field trips to mainland factories, plus brand input as part of its Global Denim Talent Programme.
The latter end of the festival will take place inside Qiaoshan Cultural Centre in the city of Foshan, Guangdong province. China’s oldest denim manufacturer, Advance Denim, which also calls Guangdong home, is due to serve as the event’s strategic partner and sponsor.
