Four out of five brands do well for Urban Outfitters

Denim and lifestyle clothing retail group Urban Outfitters, whose brands include Free People and Anthropologie, has reported revenues of $3.7 billion for the first nine months of its current business year, the period to October 31.
The Philadelphia-based group said this was a 7.5% increase year on year, and a new company record.
Although sales at the Urban Outfitters brand itself were down by almost 13%, there were increases of 22.5% at Free People and of 12.3% at Anthropologie, both of which have extensive denim collections.
The group’s other brands, subscription clothing rental service Nuuly and its collection of restaurants and events venues, called Menus & Venues, also reported double-digit growth. In Nuuly’s case, revenues for the nine-month period doubled to reach more than $170 million.
