Minister asks denim buyers to pay ‘a fair price’ in Bangladesh
 
                        The Bangladesh Denim Expo ran on May 6 and 7 this year in Dhaka. More than 60 exhibitors from 11 countries took part, showcasing fabrics and finished garments, as well as chemicals and other technologies.
In the course of this, the sixteenth edition of the event, there were also panel discussions and trend seminars.
Bangladesh’s minster for textiles, Jahangir Kabir Nanak, was one of the guests of honour. He said the country was “a safe and compliant sourcing hub” for denim buyers and brands. He urged companies in the denim supply chain to choose to source from Bangladesh, but he also urged them to “pay a fair price”.
Also among the guests of honour at the denim event was the Netherlands’ ambassador to Bangladesh, Irma van Dueren. She said the Asian country had made “impressive progress” in economic development and that the garment industry had been “crucial to this progress”.
