Hyosung to implement Ambercycle technology
Korean textile conglomerate Hyosung has formed an agreement with Los Angeles-based Ambercycle to deploy its “molecular regeneration” technology. This textile-to-textile chemical recycling process breaks down blended fabrics into their original monomers.

The partnership will tap Hyosung’s 58 years of fibre manufacturing expertise and accelerate the commercialisation of Ambercycle’s recycled polyester, cycora. It will add to the Korean group’s recycled offering, which includes nylon, polyester and elastane, as part of its regen platform.

“The fashion industry is searching for accessible, high-quality circular solutions. This partnership is an important step to ramp up the production of cycora and make it easier for brands to source regenerated materials for their fashion lines. We’re closely aligned with Hyosung on both our high-quality standards and our commitment to circularity, so we are thrilled to have them as a partner in our commercialisation journey,” said Shay Sethi, CEO of Ambercycle, in a statement.

This agreement follows up on a three-year uptake commitment by Sri Lankan group MAS with Ambercycle and a partnership with Taiwan-based Shinkong Synthetic Fibers Corporation, a producer of PET polymers.
