Licensing may be all the remains for Esprit
Fashion group Esprit Holdings has announced the winding up of almost all of its subsidiaries in Europe. Reports suggest that the subsidiaries that remain, including those in Spain and Italy, are unlikely to be able to continue trading once current inventory runs out.
Now headquartered in Hong Kong, Esprit has announced in the course of 2024 that its subsidiaries in Switzerland, Belgium, Germany, Denmark and the Netherlands were filing for insolvency.
Towards the end of the first half of the year, attempts to sell the remainder of the business to new investors failed.
Speculation is that Esprit will now seek to make its brand name available to licence-holders in different parts of the world.
