Stand-out eco-responsible year for Sarp Jeans

Demirisik Tekstil, a family-owned jeans manufacturer founded in 1983 and based in Izmir, Turkey, has published its third annual sustainability report, marking a turning point in its quest to make better jeans. The company markets its own label, Sarp Jeans, in Turkey.

This year its facility obtained the ISO 14001 Environmental Management System Certificate. The company began its sustainability journey in 2009 and was one of the first in the denim sector to obtain SWAN certification, a stringent Nordic eco-label, for denim pants and non-denim chinos.

Other highlights in its sustainability efforts in 2023 include the installation of a new enterprise resource planning (ERP) system, expanded employee training on social compliance and sustainability, and Regenagri certification for 2000 acres of regenerative and organic cotton fields owned by company shareholders.

In 2024, Sarp Jeans plans to complete a study on fair living wages and a project for the installation of solar panels on the roof of its factory.

The company will be exhibiting at Bluezone this coming September (3 and 4, in Munich).
