Bangladesh Denim Expo celebrates ‘Blue new world’

The 17th edition of Bangladesh Denim Expo opened yesterday in the International Convention City Bashundhara of Dhaka. Close to 50 exhibitors are presenting their products to buyers and visitors from over 65 countries during the two-day event.

Two panel talks are being held. The first day’s session focused on the steps Bangladesh must take to secure its place as a leading resource for the global apparel industry, with Showkat Aziz Russell, president of the Bangladesh Textile Mills Association (BTMA) and managing director of Amber Denim Mills, and the ambassador of Italy in Bangladesh, H.E. Antonio Alessandro, among others.

The second panel will dig into the consequences of Bangladesh’s graduation from Least Developed Country status (LDC) in 2029 and its ability to secure eligibility through the Generalised System of Preferences (GSP) policy.

This edition’s theme, The Blue New World, focuses on Bangladesh as a provider of responsible sourcing solutions and its commitment to sustainable practices. A Trend Zone featuring the latest trends is also programmed.
