Cyclo presents denims with 90% recycled cotton

Bangladesh-based recycled cotton yarn supplier Cyclo has teamed up with its sister company Dreuss Worldwide and Bangladeshi mills to create a range of denim fabrics using its 90% recycled cotton yarns.
First displayed at Kingpins Amsterdam in October, the companies wanted to inspire brands and demonstrate the quality of the material containing the high-percentage recycled content.
Cyclo recycles 20 tonnes of cotton per day, collecting scraps and leftovers from garment manufacturers around Bangladesh.
It has worked with Danish brand Bestseller since 2020, to incorporate the cotton from GMS Composite Knitting, a jersey supplier in the country, into its clothing ranges.
It tested the denims in partnership with mills for around two years before it was satisfied with the performance. “If you only incorporate 20% recycled, that is not pushing the needle forward," Musrafain Munir, director of Cyclo, told Inside Denim.
