Copper and zinc recycling breakthrough for YKK
Specialist fastener technology developer YKK has published a new environmental report, highlighting a reduction of more than 50% of its scope-one and scope-two greenhouse gas emissions since 2018.
The group has also reduced its water consumption by 22% since 2018 and is now recycling more than 90% of waste.
It also reported that it now has 37 facilities across its global manufacturing network running on 100% renewable energy.
Another highlight in the report is YKK’s claim that 38% of all the materials it uses across its global operations are from sustainable sources. This is an increase of 12% on the figure it gave a year ago.
One of the innovations it has come up with is a proprietary recycling technology for the copper and zinc alloys it uses in its zippers.
