Actions speak louder, Cone Denim president says
Business leaders at Cone Denim have made further comments about the benefits of the solar energy project at the company’s mill in Jiaxing in China.
In November, Conde Denim announced that placing solar panels on the roof of the Jiaxing plant will generate 9 megawatt hours of electricity annually. Its vice-president of manufacturing, Brad Johnson, said at the time this new clean energy initiative would provide a 17% reduction in greenhouse gas emissions at the Jiaxing facility.
He said the project had provided an opportunity to scale up wider company efforts to increase its use of clean energy and reduce carbon emissions.
Echoing this in more recent comments, Cone Denim president, Steve Maggard, said he was proud to lead a company that was “putting actions behind its commitment” to sustainability.
It is easy to talk about intentions, Mr Maggard said, but “a very different thing” to turn those intentions into concrete action.
