Tapestry says repurposed denim bag demonstrates circular progress
Luxury group Tapestry has published results of a lifecycle assessment of Coach’s Soho Bag made from recycled and upcycled denim.
It partnered with used clothing wholesaler Bank & Vogue (BVH) to source post-consumer denim in Canada, which is shipped to India to be sorted.
The bag also uses Circulose material from Sweden’s Renewcell.
Consultancy WSP performed a cradle-to-gate LCA in collaboration with BVH to evaluate seven environmental impacts of repurposed denim material compared with conventional first-use denim.
The LCA found BVH’s repurposed denim has up to an 80% reduction in GHG emissions and up to 95% less water consumption.
Tapestry said the LCA and adoption of BVH repurposed denim showcases its progress on circular innovation through partnerships.
