Twenty-three Central Saint Martins (CSM) menswear students in their second year of study have shown their final looks after four weeks of intensive industry education and mentorship under the guidance of denim experts Mohsin Sajid and Sue Barrett.

Mr Sajid and Ms Barrett are established designers and consultants, both UK-based. The former primarily runs the Endrime denim workshop and consultancy, while trend forecaster Ms Barrett specialises in business planning and coaching at Denim Forum.

Participants successfully nurtured their creations from concept through to finished garment and branding, each using “sustainable” fabrics from a single mill sponsor.

The project concluded with individual presentations in early February, supported by Denham the Jeanmaker and Scotch & Soda alum Nimesh Gadhia and creative director at London menswear archive The Vintage Showroom, Bhavesh Samji.

Mr Sajid described the experience as “pure fun”. Every student was able to realise their ideas in denim with great effect, he said, adding that the collaborators were already looking forward to delivering the project, now in its third year, once again in 2024.

Industry contributors included denim mills Bossa, Candiani, Cone, Advance Denim, Orta and Isko, plus Kassim and sister company Denim Privé, in addition to ingredient brands Renewcell and Tencel, cottonised hemp supplier Marmara, threadmaker Coats and zipper manufacturer YKK.
