Stone Island hopes polypropylene denim will give a performance boost
Italian brand Stone Island has reported flat nine-month sales of EUR 292.4 million as it launches an expanded denim division, Denim Research.
The range includes denim made of a cotton/polypropylene blend (pictured) as well as “micro corduroy” and traditional Japanese raw selvedge.
The company first launched a polypropylene denim as a limited edition in 2016, suggesting its inclusion helps to make the fabric lighter.
Remo Ruffini, CEO of parent group Moncler, said: “As we close the first nine months of the year, we remain focused on executing our strategy with discipline, agility and a strong sense of direction – aware of the challenges around us, but even more committed to the opportunities ahead.”
