Revised criteria sees Levi’s and Gap jump up Barron’s list
Levi’s and Gap, jumped 39 and 36 places, respectively, when Barron’s recently published its reranked 100 Most Sustainable Companies list.
When the original annual list was published in February, Levi’s was ranked 52 and Gap was ranked 59. According to the new criteria, Levi’s holds the number 13 spot and Gap is ranked 23.
For years, the list has been based on 28 categories and 230 indicators under the environmental, social and governance umbrella. In light of the covid-19 pandemic and global protests of racial injustice, Barron’s announced a change in criteria that takes into account workplace diversity, data security, product quality, and how companies interact with their employees, customers and communities.
Of the 100 companies, Barron’s said 26 fell more than 20 places in the ranking, while 23 improved more than 20 places.
“As customers and employees continue to make their voices heard, the companies that respond are likely to be more lavishly rewarded by investors,” Barron’s wrote.
