Jeansmaker chooses NTX’s novel dyeing process to slash water use
Taiwanese jeans manufacturer Roo Hsing has teamed up with NTX to use its Cooltrans dyeing technology, which NTX claims reduces water consumption by 93% and is the result of 10 years of research and development.

The Singapore based company, which won funding and support from Netherlands-based hub Fashion for Good in March, says its process eliminates the need for extensive washing, chemical dyeing and printing processes.

NTX Cooltrans is a “waterless” textile coloration solution that can be used on most fabrics without the need for heat, with up to 90% less water, and is uncompromising to both the hand feel and functional performance, according to the company.

Roo Hsing says this will help it to cut production time from 140 days down to only 60 days, potentially reducing lead times by 80 days.

“Amid this pandemic, this novel technology will enable Roo Hsing to help customers reduce costs of inventory and yield loss, increase uncompromising consistency, quality, and sustainability,” it said.
