Old Navy interim head Nancy Green becomes brand’s CEO

Nancy Green has been named president and CEO of Old Navy, the largest brand within the Gap group. Ms Green has served as interim head of the brand since March and — in prior years — has held the role of Old Navy’s president and chief creative officer.
Before joining Old Navy in 2019, Ms Green was president and CEO of the Gap group’s activewear brand, Athleta, where she helped grow the brand from a $250 million to a nearly $1 billion business. There, the company said, she was “instrumental in Athleta becoming the first apparel company of its size and scale to achieve B Corp Certification”.
Ms Green has held multiple roles with Old Navy, including leading product, design and visual merchandising from 2010 to 2012. She also served as CEO of Shabby Chic, as well as general manager and executive VP of Pottery Barn.
“Nancy is a visionary leader who brings deep customer empathy to her role every day. She has led the brand through one of the most challenging periods in its 26-year history, and the team has delivered strong results through compelling creative and product execution,” said Sonia Syngal, CEO of Gap.
Under her leadership, Ms Syngal added, the brand has grown a billion-dollar active and fleece business and launched new omni-channel experiences.
