Supima CEO re-elected to BCI Council

12/03/2021

Better Cotton Initiative (BCI), the Geneva-based body that campaigns for increased production and consumption of “more sustainable cotton”, has announced that Marc Lewkowitz, chief executive of Supima, has been re-elected to its council.

The BCI Council is an elected board that has the role of ensuring that BCI has a clear strategic direction and adequate policy to fulfil its mission. It is a decision-making body and has, BCI has said, “a direct influence on making global cotton production more sustainable”.

Retailers, brands, suppliers, manufacturers, civil society and producer organisations all have representation on the council.

Supima, a non-profit organisation that aims to promote the use of US-grown Pima cotton around the world, won election in the producing organisation category. It supplies cotton to a wide range of denim brands, including Levi’s and AG Adriano Goldschmied.

Marc Lewkowitz is a previous chair of the BCI Council.
