Unspun launches ‘3D visualiser’

Hong Kong and San Francisco-based robotics and digital apparel company Unspun has launched a “3D visualiser”.

The technology uses algorithms create an “avatar” following a 30-second body scan, around which the jeans are designed.

The company says this could reduce carbon emissions “through automated, localised and intentional manufacturing”.

It said: “Our new 3D visualiser takes customisation to the next level. The innovative tool allows you to build your dream jeans down to the smallest detail.”

Founded in 2017, the young company was originally supported by the Fashion for Good hub to sell through its website as well as a store San Francisco and pop-ups in Hong Kong.

It uses fabrics from mills including Candiani, Evlox, Panther Denim and Prosperity Textile.

Inside Denim spoke to co-founder Walden Lam for our Industry 4.0 feature, when he said: “We seek to address the needs of consumers who have difficulty finding jeans that fit and eco-conscious customers who want to know where their garments are made.”
