The 2021 United Nations Climate Change Conference, also known as COP26, is currently underway in Glasgow, Scotland, where it is being held until November 11.

In a bid to secure the attention of participating world leaders, several major denim enterprises including Guess, Levi Strauss & Co, Gap, H&M Group, Inditex, Reformation and Ralph Lauren have come together alongside more than 770 global businesses to sign a joint letter aimed at those in power.

The letter, organised by the We Mean Business Coalition, calls on governments to take concrete action in order to remain within the Paris Agreement’s 1.5 degrees Celsius temperature goal.

Separately, Guess also announced its support of the United Nations’ concurrent sixteenth conference of youth, essentially a gathering of over 150 young leaders from around the world (whether virtually or physically in Glasgow) who reportedly aim to ensure the collective youth voice on climate negotiations is heard.

This support entailed providing supplemental funds for five US-based youth delegates.

Chief executive of Los Angeles-headquartered Guess, Carlos Alberini, commented: “The time to act is now. We still have time to transform business for good. At Guess, we are committed to being part of the solution to climate change. We also must support this inspiring younger generation in leading us to a brighter future.

“Everyone must do their part to ensure we keep this beautiful world as we know it – or better yet, as we dream it!”
