Dockers x Transnomadica: Back to Japan
Transnomadica founder Maurizio Donadi, who also founded Atelier & Repairs, has teamed up with Dockers, a Levi & Strauss company group, to revisit the heritage of khakis with a limited-edition collection of gender-neutral classics.

The capsule collection, called “Back to Japan”, is available this March, in Spain. It follows up on an earlier, “Oh Khaki, My Khaki” special edition, also designed by Mr Donadi and released in February 2021.

The range draws on the original military-issue khaki-coloured trousers, also known as chinos, on which the Dockers brand built its success in the early days of Casual Fridays in the 1980s.

“My approach to design is never on the present, but on what stuff could be once it’s lived in and used, hopefully for a very long time,” said Maurizio Donadi. The line-up of re-imagined khakis revisits their classic heritage and includes Docker’s Original Khakis in their 1986 pleat front style, along with a blazer, a fishtail parka, a long-sleeve shirt, Tee-shirt and fleece sweater.

The LA-based designer is known for his extensive archives assembled over the past four decades as well as for his focus on sustainability and circularity. True to character, he chose low impact fibres, such as hemp and recycled nylon, and limited the colour range to white, khaki, and undyed, for this special edition.
