The family-owned company, founded 130 years ago, is now headed by the fourth generation Tufferys, Myriam and Julien, who took over the company five years ago.
Experiencing steady growth since they took over, with sales increasing from €100,000 to €3.5 million in 2021, the company needs more space for its activities. In the Spring of 2023, when construction will be finished, the facility will include a completely new building, measuring 1,000 square meters, and the integration of a neighboring 600-square-meter structure. The production facility will then total 2,000 square meters, extending beyond the current manufacturing space that was built in 2017.
This investment will enable the company to expand areas dedicated to production, logistics, marketing and administration as well as the showroom and the onsite shop. It represents some €2.5 million, covering a three-year period, from 2021 to 2023, backed by state and regional institutions.
A new training centre will be included as part of the company’s mission to provide new skills to its staff. Atelier Tuffery intends to double its current workforce to reach a total of 50.
Local and natural materials, including wood and recycled textile insulation, were chosen by the architects, also based locally. French designer Matali Crasset, a fan of the brand, contributed to the eco-responsible thinking behind this project.
