Naia adopts Textile Genesis' traceability platform
US-based fibre producer Eastman has chosen to keep track of feedstock used to make its Naia-branded cellulosic yarns using a digital supply chain traceability solution developed by Textile Genesis. The company founded by Amit Gautam and based in Hong Kong and India has similar partnerships with Lenzing, the Cotton Trust Protocol, Textile Exchange and H&M.

Eastman’s Naia acetate yarn is made from sustainably sourced wood pulp. Naia Renew is made from 60% sustainably wood pulp and 40% certified recycled waste materials (with recycled content achieved by allocation of recycled waste material based on certified mass balance).

By implementing Textile Genesis’ technology, Eastman will be able to track its raw materials and their transformation through the entire supply chain, from point of origin to final retail destination. Each stage is digitalised, stored on a blockchain, and tokenised with a FiberCoin. By providing visibility and data on the raw materials and their transformation, Textile Genesis says its technology contributes to furthering environmental, social and governance (ESG) policies and supports third party verification.

As Claudia de Witte, sustainability leader, Eastman Textile Fibers commented: “Traceability in the textiles supply chain is a crucial step for a more transparent industry overall.”
