Naia Renew enters denim market
Exhibiting for the first time at PV Denim, which opened this morning in Milan, Eastman is introducing its recycled acetate fibre Naia Renew to the denim industry. The U.S.-based company believes its staple fibre GRS-certified fibre blends well with natural fibres, other MMCFs and synthetics to create denim fabrics that have an authentic look and feel.

Fabrics made from Advance Denim, Kilim, Kipas, Realteks and Calik Denim have already been developed and are on show.

“The added value we provide brands is not only a fashionable but also a sustainable fibre,” says Carolina Sister Cohn, in charge of textiles marketing for Eastman. “Naia has a strong and transparent sustainability story that brands can pass on to their customers and denim lovers all over the world, making them more aware of their choices. Third-party certifications play a key role in this scenario because what we promise is verified and proven.”

Naia Renew is made from 60% sustainably sourced wood pulp and 40% certified recycled content derived from Eastman’s patented chemical recycling technology. This process produces a circular, fully traceable, biodegradable and compostable cellulosic fibre with a reduced carbon and water footprint, it says.
