An agreement has finally been reached between US-based Authentic Brands Group (ABG) and UK brand Ted Baker in a deal said to be worth roughly £211 million.

In a statement, ABG said that it “intends to use its global network of established operating partners [...] to enhance Ted Baker’s revenue and profitability across merchandise categories and geographic regions as it has for other acquired brands including Reebok, Brooks Brothers, Nautica and Eddie Bauer.” It plans specifically to expand the UK brand's presence in the US market. The statement further noted that “Ted Baker is better suited to private ownership, as this will facilitate a restructuring of the business in order to maximise its future potential.”

Ted Baker has 370 stores and concessions worldwide, with 92 in the UK, 75 in Europe, 95 in North America, 97 in the Middle East, Africa and Asia, and 11 in Australasia.

ABG operates some 300,000 points of sale and 8,500 retail stores and shop-in-shops, its brands are said to collectively generate $21 billion in annual global retail sales.
