Ever Dye lands new funds
Ever Dye, a French start-up that is developing a low temperature and non-petrochemical dyeing method, has announced it has raised €3.4 million from venture capital companies Maki.VC (also an investor in Spinnova), Asterion Ventures and Entrepreneur First. These funds, the company said, will be used to scale up its process, which currently dyes in grammes, to reach 100 kg lots by the end of 2023. The founders, Amira Erokh, a chemical engineer, and industrial engineer Ilan Palacci, expect to be able to launch the concept in 2024.

Based in the Paris region, and founded in 2021, Ever Dye is working on the development of biobased pigments made from vegetal waste and minerals, having no petrochemical content. These are designed to be used in a dyeing process that runs at room temperature and lasts only 30 minutes. This disruptive technology, the company said, is five times faster and requires 15 times less energy compared to conventional autoclave dyeing.

French childrenswear brand Petit Bateau has been testing the concept for the past 12 months in its facility in Troyes, France. It is, stated Thierry Scaglia, innovation, quality and compliance manager for the brand, part of the brand’s decarbonisation commitment.

This promising process won an ANDAM Innovation award in 2022 and is currently participating in a Fashion for Good incubator programme.
