Transformers all set for first French seminar
 
                        Industry innovation platform Transformers Foundation has published the full running order for its latest student-focused event, Transformers ED French, scheduled to take place from 5-7.30 pm CET on three consecutive evenings, beginning March 28.
The programme marks the first French-language edition of a Transformers ED seminar. Previous events have been held in Turkish, Portuguese, Spanish and English.
Textile engineer and Transformers board member Miguel Sanchez of Kingpins Show will kick things of with a talk on how denim is made on day one, followed by a laundry talk from Romain Narcy of Ereks Blue Matters, a panel discussion on fibre innovation between Lycra’s Helen Latham, Renewcell’s Nora Eslander, designer Anne Oudard and Denis Druon of Lille’s The Flax Company, a presentation about mechanical recycling from Andritz Laroche’s Francis Junker and a talk from Transformers founding member Alberto de Conti, head of chemicals group Rudolf’s fashion division, Hub1922.
Day two will see the United Nations’ Juliette Thiriez present on the UN Sustainable Development Goals and their relevance to the denim industry, after which chair of Amsterdam-based circular apparel and footwear body Policy Hub, Baptiste Carriere-Pradal, will discuss the legislative landscape, Mariella Noto will chat about ZDHC's Roadmap to Zero chemical management initiative, textile consultant and Accelerating Circularity founder, Karla Macgruder, will talk about the circular economy and DyStar’s global technical manager for denim, Naceur Azraq, will discuss dyeing with indigo today. Every day, each presentation will end with an opportunity for questions.
Concluding sessions on March 30 will focus on design, featuring input from founder of consultancy Denim Research, Rowan Hunt, plus trends consultant and designer Julieta Mercerat, founder of Parisian denim upcycling brand Annie Jeans, Uriel Karsenti, and senior research and development manager at Sartex-owned Denim House Tunisia, Jaouhar Damak, who will focus on 3D design. A talk on collaborative approaches to driving innovation in sustainability and sourcing from PVH Denim Center lead Nicolas Prophte will close the conference.
