Elastane options on show at Kingpins

Fibre developer Hyosung used the April edition of Kingpins to present a series of what it called customised sustainable textile solutions to the denim community.
Products it showcased at the Amsterdam event included its creora bio-based elastane. It launched this fibre, which is made with 30% renewable resources, in 2022. Benefits it points to include a 50% reduction in water consumption compared to the production of regular elastane.
Hyosung has said it will bring to market a new version, made with 70% renewable resources, in the second half of this year.
Also on display at Kingpins was the company’s creora regen elastane, made from 100% reclaimed waste, and creora 3D Max elastane, which the fibre developer said would help denim brands make their jeans recyclable.
It said 3D Max elastane was capable of delivering high-performance stretch and recovery with only a small portion of elastane content, making recycling more feasible.
“While the industry is deciding which sustainable route to go, we can offer solutions across many categories,” said Hyosung’s global marketing director for textiles, Simon Whitmarsh-Knight.
