Bangladesh poll suggests support for Archroma’s aniline-free campaign
Textile chemicals company Archroma has said 94% of people working in denim production believe the denim industry can go aniline-free.
Archroma carried out a survey of industry professionals at the Denim Expo Bangladesh in May 2023, asking them if they viewed aniline-free denim as a viable proposition. In response, 94% of people said they did.
“Aniline is highly toxic to aquatic life and in 2018, Archroma introduced an aniline-free indigo alternative, Denisol Pure Indigo 30, that revolutionised the denim industry,” the company said. It pointed out that, in this context, aniline-free means that any aniline in the product is below limits of detection.
The company added: “Innovations such as this have paved the way for mills and brands to use safer and cleaner chemistry, while maintaining quality, performance and style.”
