Bio-based colourants company makes hires and prepares indigo launch
Colourants and pigments developer Pili has appointed Alain Pinchart as its new director of operations, and Yves Combret as its production manager.
Mr Pinchart joins the Toulouse-based company from Noveal, a development and manufacturing subsidiary of cosmetics group L’Oréal, where he was chief executive. For his part, Mr Combret was previously director of strategic projects at Adionics.
Launched in 2015, Pili produces bio-based dyes and pigments. Its stated aim is to reduce the environmental footprint of the colour industry by combining industrial fermentation and green chemistry as alternatives to petrochemical dyes and pigments.
It raised €14.5 million in the first quarter of 2023, which it said it would use o accelerate the scale-up of its processes and to make initial quantities of bio-based indigo.
It said it was happy to welcome ‘two seasoned professionals” to pilot its operations.
