Spinnova expects Woodspin deliveries 'in coming months'

Recent raw material tests carried out at the first Spinnova-Suzano Woodspin factory in Jyväskylä, central Finland, have been successful, the former has announced.
The facility specialises in the manufacture of textile fibres from eucalyptus-derived cellulose pulp.
Following its completion in 2022, the plant began producing fibre in February of last year. Initial volumes will be limited in the short term.
This is to be expected as Spinnova continues to run tests on batches of micro-fibrillated cellulose (MFC) supplied by its Brazilian pulp-making partner, the Finnish company said, and works to optimise the entire process from Suzano wood pulp through fibre production, ahead of further commercial scale-up down the line. A second Woodspin factory is due to be completed later this year.
“We are pleased that Suzano has passed some important milestones related to MFC raw material development,” shared new Spinnova chief executive, Tuomos Oijala.
“Spinnova continues to finalise the fibre and textile material development work, so that fibre deliveries from Woodspin to customers, made from Suzano MFC, can begin in the coming months.”
