Spinnova makes Bestseller debut in men’s chinos
Danish fashion group Bestseller has elected to launch the first product to come of its relationship with Finnish renewable fibre developer Spinnova, a pair of men’s chino trousers, via denim and casualwear company Jack & Jones.

Already available online, the wide-leg chinos contain 60% organic cotton, 20% wood-based Spinnova fibre and 20% Better Cotton-approved cotton. They can be washed at a maximum temperature of 30 degrees Celsius, according to the brand’s website.

“After visiting Spinnova’s mill in Finland, seeing how pristine the fibre production is, I am excited to see the first Jack & Jones product made with Spinnova fibre on the market,” commented the Brande-based label’s sustainability responsible, Elena Osenbrüg.

The patented technology behind Spinnova’s eponymous textile fibre can be used to make fibre from responsibly sourced wood and waste streams such as leather, textile or agricultural waste. It has a hand-feel that is not dissimilar to that of natural fibres such as cotton and linen. Thanks to a joint venture with Brazilian pulp producer Suzano, Spinnova plans to scale up capacity to produce 1 million tonnes of fibre per annum within 10-12 years.
