A passage to India for AbTF

Hamburg-based aid organisation Aid by Trade Foundation (AbTF), which runs the Cotton made in Africa (CmiA) initiative, has said it will expand its cotton focus beyond Africa for the first time.

It will now promote sustainable cotton cultivation in India too. It has already launched a first pilot project with small-scale farmers in the state of Maharashtra to put its Regenerative Cotton Standard into practice in India.

It said its objective was to expand to one of the largest cotton-producing countries in the world its programme for making sustainable cotton available for global textile companies to purchase.

“We are happy to now be working in India as well and to use our expertise in sustainable cotton cultivation and our global network for the benefit of Indian small-scale farmers,”said AbTF managing director, Tina Stridde.
