White Weft to lead London workshops as it embarks on 'biggest challenge'
Janelle Hanna, denim consultant and founder of upcycling brand White Weft, has launched the company’s biggest challenge to date: to repair 1,000 jeans in 2025.
After a the high of writing a book (published this summer), launching DIY upcycling kits and creating amazing new products, 2024 ended on a low note when the company missed out on an important funding bid.
Janelle said: “The start of 2025 was heavy - but we’re not giving up! 1,000 jeans is our fight-back. 1,000 jeans to keep a highly skilled repair studio active. 1,000 jeans saved from landfill. 1,000 jeans to change habits and challenge throwaway culture.”
She has issued a call for collaborations: on repurposed products, workshops, or pop-up events. “Send us your own denim, or workwear, for repair,” she added.
As well as this target, her London studio is taking part in London’s Repair Week: join them on March 5 at Nudie Jeans’ Soho store 5-7pm (no booking required) then at Canterbury Crescent in Brixton, March 7, where she will be hosting drop-in sessions 11am-7pm. That afternoon, she will also host a workshop in collaboration with Stitch School, teaching participants valuable skills to keep their denim in use longer. Booking is required at Eventbrite for the workshop.
