Cotton Inc. survey says jeans’ cost per use is 4 cents
In its Lifestyle Monitor Survey for 2025, Cotton Incorporated broke down the value per use of denim jeans. Based on an estimated price of $47 for a pair of jeans that are worn on average three times a week for eight years, the cost-per-wear comes to about 4 cents, it found. The survey posits that most people wear four pairs regularly, which brings the cost-per-wear to around 15 cents.

Cotton Inc.’s 2024 Global Denim Survey also emphasised the key role the natural fibre plays in the ongoing popularity jeans. This consumer survey found that 80% of consumers prefer jeans made from cotton or cotton blends and that 85% say cotton is the most comfortable fabric.

“Comfort, fit, quality and durability are what really matter to today’s shoppers. It’s not just about style—it’s about how clothes feel, how they fit, and how long they last; cotton delivers on all these factors,” commented Kim Kitchings, who heads consumer marketing for Cotton Incorporated.
